Walking throught the streets of Konoha, the Hyuga heiress had her head filled with thoughts of the famous Kyuubi holder, Naruto Uzumaki. Her face turned that familiar shade of pink as his voice filled her thoughts. "I like people like you..." That was the kindest thing anyone had ever said to her, aside from Kiba, and her sensei. Hinata knew that Naruto meant it in a friendly way, but it still gave her hope. She approached the Ichiraku Ramen shop, she could tell without her even lifting her head to see the sign. The smell of Naruto's favorite food filled the air surrounding the shop. Her pupiless eyes closed, "Naruto-kun..." She sighed and blushed. "What is it Hinata?" She looked up and squeeked. "N-Naruto-kun?!" She blushed, seeing the boy who held her admiration. "Are you okay Hinata? Your face is turning red again." He asked, Naruto was so stupid sometimes. She nodded and smiled a little. Naruto shrugged and started to walk away. "Oh... hold a sec..." Naruto turned around with a serious expression. "Hinata, I need to talk to you later. Meet me at my house, at around noon okay?" She nodded, understanding what he was going to talk to her about. "I'll see you later today Hinata... Dattebayo!" He ran off.
Words like rejection, sadness, and regret were going through her mind. Tears formed in the corners of her eyes. 'The war is over... Sasuke is back... but he still holds the Kyuubi...' She said in her head. She understood that he was going to talk to her about... her confession. She turned around. The sun's heat made beads of sweat form at her forehead. "Its almost noon now..." She sighed, turning around again, facing away from the sun. Her legs were leading her to Naruto's house, slowly. She didn't want to appear too eager, she didn't want to approach her rejection in haste. Kiba saw Hinata looking down, slumping, and heading towards Naruto's house. "Damn you Naruto... if you hurt-" "Kiba!" yelled Shino. "What is it?!" "Stop eyeing Hinata!" Kiba blushed.
Hinata saw Naruto's house. "Might as well get this over with..." She sighed and knocked on the door. "Coming!" It was obviously Naruto's voice. A bunch of crashes and bumping was heard because of his haste. He finally opened the door and saw that Hinata was not happy. "What's wrong Hinata?" She straightened up and lied, "N-Nothing Naruto-kun!" "Okay... um... come in Hinata..." She slowly walked in. The cool air hit her body, making her shiver. "Sit on the couch Hinata..." She nodded and sat down. "Um... N-Naruto-kun..." Naruto looked at her in the eyes. His stern eyes pierced her soul. "A-are you angry at m-me...?" She asked, looking down. "No..." was all he said.
"Then wh-why did you want to talk to-" She silenced as she felt his eyes stare her down. "Why...?" "E-excuse me...?" "Why did you save me Hinata?!" Naruto yelled. Hinata winced at the loudness of his voice. "B-because I-I love you..." Hinata teared up. "You could've been killed Hinata!" Hinata's eyes closed as she stood up. "P-please Naruto- kun... don't question why. I did it because I don't know how I could survive without you." She was impressing herself by her courage to say this without stuttering, or blushing. "If you died Naruto, and I knew I could've prevented it... I couldn't live with myself. I couldn't look at myself in the mirror, I couldn't face all the people who love you and not feel horrible. I would not stand by and see you, the most confident and important person in my life, get destroyed." She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth.
Naruto was taken aback. "Hinata..." He put his hand on her shoulder. "I didn't realize I meant that much to you... I just, don't want you to give up your life for someone like me-" "Someone like you?!" Her fury was evident on her face. "Naruto, you are much more important and significant than a lot of people I know! You saved me from myself Naruto! I am alive today because of you, because of your words! I would love to be as confident, and smart, and determined as you are!" She grabbed the collar of his shirt. Naruto's face shown fear, Hinata was the kindest and sweetest girl he knew. Now she was acting like Sakura. What world was this? Hinata's eyes widened when she saw the fear in Naruto's eyes. She let him go and stepped back.
"I-I-I'm s-s-s-sorry Naruto-kun!" She blushed and ran out of his house. Her face felt the stings of several raindrops as th sky grew dark. A storm covered Konoha, shrouding everything in semi-darkness. She darted towards the forest, where she and her team used to train. She slowed down as the rain showered heavier. The ground got muddier and muddier. She kept walking until she was in uknown territory. "Where am I?" She whispered to herself. Hinata was not watching where she was going and slipped down a steep hill. She screamed out in surprise. The mud covered her shivering body. Her legs trembled as she stood up. Her legs were aching, the hill was not smooth. It was rocky, and bumpy. Blood trickled down her legs.
"Its nothing compared to the pain I felt when I yelled at Naruto-kun..." She assured herself. She squeeled as she slipped again, falling face down on the ground. She just lay there, crying heavy tears. The rain stopped, and the late evening sky revealed itself. She didn't realize how long she had been running. No wonder she didn't have enough strength to move from her vulnerable position. She turned her face to the side so she could breathe. Her shallow breaths were barely audible in the quiet forest.
Naruto sighed as he sat on his couch, thinking about Hinata's words. "Naruto, you are much more important and significant than a lot of people I know! You saved me from myself Naruto! I am alive today because of you, because of your words! I would love to be as confident, and smart, and determined as you are!" He smacked his forehead. "I'm such an idiot..." "You got that right." Sakura walked in. "How'd you-" "The door was open..." She smiled. Naruto shrugged. "Hinata was seen running through the forest Naruto..." Sakura closed the door and sat next to Naruto. "We heard her..." Sakura put her arm around Naruto. "Y-you did?" "Naruto, the whole village could hear her." Sakura smirked. "It is dark now, she hasn't been seen in about six hours." "I know..." "We're rounding up a search party, you should come and join it." She smiled. "No... I'm going to look for her myself." His face showed determination, and passion, something Sakura had never seen before.
"Well, I'm going to go and join Sasuke and the others. Bring her back..." Sakura winked. "I will!" Naruto jumped up and stormed out of his house. Sakura laughed at him and ran down the opposite way. Naruto ran past the stunned search party members and jumped on one of the tree branches. "Hinata!" he yelled, his voice echoing throughout the area. Hinata's eyes opened, and she tried to stand up, but couldn't. "M-my leg..." She winced. Her leg was broken from her fall down the hill. She couldn't even identify where she was. "I-I can't st-stand..." She reminded herself.
Her arms were still working. She used them to pull herself towards a tree. She sat against it and sighed. "I guess I better stay here until someone gets me..." She whimpered. Naruto scanned the area for the heiress. "Hinata!" He yelled again. "She's not here... where could she have gotten to?" Naruto jumped down and walked, looking carefully for her. Hinata used her remaining chakra to activate her byakugan. "N-no one..." She sighed. Naruto soon realized that he was only looking in the small forest belonging to Konoha. 'She must be outside this forest... that means...' "She doesn't even know where she is!" Naruto sped away, calling her name over and over. The search party scanned Konoha's forest completely. "Where is she?" Sasuke sighed.
Sakura sighed as well, "Everyone! Head home!" she yelled. Everyone gave her a 'are you insane?' face. "Look, Naruto is out looking for her, she'll be found." She assured everyone. "Very well... Go home everyone!" Neji yelled, heading back to the Hyuga compound. Everyone left to their homes, eagerly awaiting Naruto's success. "Naruto... please..." Neji sighed. Naruto clenched his teeth as he remembered Hinata's words to him. "Because... I love you..." Those words rang in his head repeatedly.
Hinata breathed heavily as her leg pounded. She looked at it. She nearly fainted, the bone was sticking out. Hinata took off her headband, and put the metal part in her mouth. She reached down and pushed the bone into place. She then tied her headband on her leg as tight as possible. She screamed as the pain surged through her body. Naruto heard her. "Hinata?" He ran towards her direction. 'Blood...' Naruto's eyes closed. He heard her soft cries of pain near him. "Hinata!" "N-Naruto-kun..." She sighed. The blood surrounded her body. Naruto saw her against a tree. She looked at him, her eyes were half opened. "N-Naruto-kun..." She smiled, pain was evident on her face.
Naruto walked over to her and kneeled down. "Hinata... your leg." "Its o-okay Naruto-kun... I fixed it..." She motioned towards her bloody headband. Naruto saw her bone's creamy color. "Hinata... let me just..." He picked her up. She cried out. "I'm sorry! Did I hurt you?!" "I h-hurt myself N-Naruto-kun..." She winced. Naruto sped back towards Konoha. Sakura waited impatiently at the gate. "Naruto! Hinata!" She yelled out happily as she saw their figures approach. Naruto stopped in front of Sakura. Sakura took Hinata from Naruto. "H-her leg is broken." She frowned, and carried her to the medical center. Naruto followed closely behind. "I need a bed now!" Sakura ordered. A bed was brought to her immediately. Sakura brought her to a room and wrapped her leg, and placed a splint on it. Hinata closed her eyes and cried out as the last bandage was put into place.
Sakura put her on another bed. "Naruto, I'm going to alert the others that you found her. Stay here and take care of Hinata..." She left and closed the door behind her. Naruto pulled up a chair beside the Hyuga. "Naruto-kun..." She smiled. "Thank God you're okay Hinata!" He teared up. "N-Naruto-kun... are you crying?" She put her hand on his cheek, the dried up mud flaked off. Naruto smoothed her hair from her face. "I'm not crying..." "You are..." She sighed. "Hinata... what you said... really opened my eyes..." He said, holding her hand and making her blush. "Hinata, I have been waiting to give you this... but I guess this is as good a time as any other." He grabbed a locket from his small pouch. "I um... got this for you about a week ago..." He put it around her neck. She teared up and blushed redder. "See Hinata? " He opened it and showed it to her. "It's us!" The picture showed a picture of Naruto with his arm around Hinata. Hinata was blushing in the picture. It was recent, and it was when the war just ended.
"N-Naruto-kun..." Tears were rolling down her cheeks. Naruto kissed her cheek. "I love you too Hinata Hyuga." He held her hand and smiled. This was their life now. Hinata forever belongs to Naruto Uzumaki.
Who knows where their love may go? Maybe there is a shining light at the end of the tunnel for these two.
"As long as we're together..." Naruto blushed lightly as he cradled the sleeping Hyuga. "As long as we're together, I can go on..." Naruto fell asleep holding her.
Love blossoms in the dark, in the rain...
